Augury woods is a personal project, indeed it is the project that really began my photographic practice. I have included it in this section because it employs extensive compositing - down to constructing figures from multiple body parts – none of the models you see in the images below are real, some are anonymous models who shoot nude with masks, others are pure creations from multiple online sources. All pre AI image generation they employ no Midjourney or Stable Diffusion - they are meticulously hand built images.
Once limbs, torsos, faces, and hair are composited to create the desired figure, actual photographs are taken in the woods and the figures composited in. Some figures have body paint which was added to the base composite in photoshop.
The project depicts wild shamanic sorceresses that stalk the ‘Augury Woods’ – an imagined place out of time and reality. They are ‘lit’ as if to suggest that they were captures by a lost photographer with an on camera flash who just happened upon rituals, levitations or lone wild women. An adjunct project imagined dark happenings at an abandoned motel. The interior images were ‘stolen’ from American real estate sales websites.
The Suspira images were especially commissioned pieces for the magazine to accompany an article discussing the cult film ‘The Devils'.’
